For my friends who follow me here, here is a quick update.
I'm extremely lucky and fortunate to have been invited on not one, but two all expenses paid holidays this year, courtesy of mine and Dash's parents. I got back the day before yesterday from four days in Amsterdam, which is an incredible city. Though most people think of tulips, weed and the red light district when they think of Amsterdam, my memories will be bikes and canals. This is a nation obsessed with cycling, the sheer volume of bikes and cyclists is truly unbelievable. It's also dead flat and built almost entirely below sea level on land that had to be drained, so the canals siphon off the water - and it's not like there are just a couple of them, thee city is built around about four or five semi-circular rings of canals with streets in between, it's a beautiful synergy of tall thin houses, hump-backed bridges and water. Please check out my uploads to see it in all its glory.
My second holiday will be eight days in Portugal with my family, who I'm meeting out there tomorrow (they have been there for 10 days already). I don't anticipate so much culture on this trip - but it should be more relaxing, you can expect a few beach snapshots when I get back.
Hope you're all having a great summer
